For the 5.5KW unit how much water flow is required through the heater(570gph)?
 Reply

A  Answered on 9/29/2006 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The flow should be maintained above 15 GPM (900 GPH).  Failure to do so will cause the pressure switch to drop out, and the heater will become inoperative.

We have an above ground pool, approx 5,300 gallons. Would this heater be an OK way to warm up the pool?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/6/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Robert M.

Hello Theresa - The 5.5kW would be undersized. We would recommend Raypak model 001640. This is the 11kW electric heater.

Does this heater require special wiring? Would it work for a 27 ft round pool?

Hello, Unfortunately, this would not work on an above ground pool. This is for use with spas only.

How can you tell if elements are working to full capacity
 Reply

A  Answered on 2/20/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, If the heater is heating the water then the element is working at capacity. The element will or it will not heat. it's not going to partially heat or work.

amps required

A  Answered on 4/25/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Joe S.

Good afternoon this will require a 50 amp breaker for the install. 240v Operation Both of the Raypak Electric Spa heaters operate with 240v single phase power. The model 552 draws about 23 amps @240v and the model 1102 draws about 46 amps @240v.

We have a Teledyne Laars Electra Star Spa-Pak Heater TE-55. It appears that the heater element ELSR-552-2 is no longer operating. 1) Is the Raypak Flange Element 3"x3" 5.5 kw w/gasket (Mfg code 001801F) a direct replacement/fit into the existing tube? 2) If I were to replace the unit in its entirety, are the Raypak 001642 water inlet/outlet dimensions the same (10" center to center) - though on the side, rather than the rear of the cabinet as the Teeldyne?
 Reply

A  Answered on 9/20/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi. The Raypak Element will not replace the Laars TE-55 Heating Element. The Raypak unit has an 8" center to center inlet to outlet measurement which is located on the side of the unit.

Does this heater interface with a freeze control unit? I have one that is connected to the propane heater I'm replacing, so I'm wondering how to connect the freeze control to the electric heater. Thanks.
 Reply

A  Answered on 8/17/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Helen. This heater is unable to be interfaced directly to a freeze control unit. You can set it up to where the pump is controlled by the freeze control ad the pump turns on the heater.
