Will this filter a 20'x40' pool 33,000 gal?
Reply
This filter can handle up 72 GPM's per minute meaning that it will be able to accomodate 34,000 gallons in an 8 hour time period. So this filter can handle your 33,000 gallon pool, however if your pocket book can handle it I would suggest going up to the FNS Plus 48 Sq. Ft. DE Filter. A larger filter will put less strain on your pump and will have a larger filtering capacity meaning you will not have to backwash your filter as often as with the 36 Sq. Ft. model.

Hi Nick, The FNS Plus 36 filter can be a suitable replacement if your pump does not exceed 72 gpm. There are different types of valve that can be used with this filter depending on your pipe size and style valve. You can view the available valve via the Pentair FNS Plus D.E. Filter Parts page.

Hi Roger, Unfortunately the photos did not come across, however the old valve on your filter should fit this Pentair FNS Plus filter. Do you have any model information of the valve like valve manufacturer or part #?

I have this model Pentair and my question is how much DE should I add when I open my pool in the springtime?

Hello Joseph. Attached please find the FNS® Plus Vertical Grid D.E. Filter Owner's Manual. Please reference page 5, Table 2. The Pentair FNS Plus 36 DE Filter requires 3.6 lbs. of Diatomaceous Earth to properly precoat the filter grids. The filter grids should be thoroughly cleaned (manually or backwash procedure) prior to adding the 3.6 lbs of DE.
