When should I change the sand in my filter?

You should change the sand in your filter every 5-7 years. You can generally tell that it is time if your pool water is not as clear as it normally is or when you notice the interval between backwashes is shorter. You can use > this guide to walk you through it.

what size flter do I need for a 30,000 gallon in ground pool? will the Pentair sand dollar 60 work efficiently ?

Hi, The efficiency of the filter all depends on the flow rate of your pump. The SD40 has a max flow rate of 40 gpm and the SD60's flow rate is 60. You will have to calculate the flow rate of your pump to determine what size filter you will need. You can use our How to Size a Pool Pump for Your In-Ground Pool guide.
