I have a pool that is about 10,000 gallons but I am thinking of buying a salt chlorine system for pools up to 20,000 gallons. Would the larger unit be a problem?
Reply
It is not a problem to oversize a salt system. It would take the larger unit less time to produce the necessary chlorine so it is actually more efficient. When the pool volume is very close to the capacity of the salt chlorine generator (for example, the pool is 18,000 gallons and the generator is rated at a maximum of 20,000 gallons), we would recommend going up to the next size generator.

Is the salt included with the salt chlorine generator?
Reply
No, salt is not included. You would purchase the salt locally and the quantity will depend upon the number of gallons of water in your pool. Use a salt that is at least 99.8% pure NaCl. The preferred salt is evaporated, granulated, food quality, and NON-iodized. Avoid using salt with anti-caking agents like sodium ferrocyanide, also known as yellow YPS (prussiate of soda). These cause some discoloration of fittings and pool surface finishes. DO NOT use calcium chloride.

On the Zodiac AquaPure Ei, how long is the clamp and how much straight pipe is required on the return line?
Reply
The clamp for the AquaPure Ei is approximately 7" long. 1-1/3' of straight pipe is recommended for installation of the cell on the return line.

Can the Zodiac AquaPure Ei be installed on 1.5" or 2" pvc pipe?
Reply
The Jandy AquaPure Ei can be installed on 1.5" and 2" pvc pipe. There is a spacer included to adapt to 1.5" pvc. The spacer is not required for installation on 2" pvc.

What is the typical salt usage for a 20,000 gallon pool?
Reply
where do you put salt
Reply
Hi John, What is most important when adding salt is to brush it around until it is dissolved. This is accelerated by turning your pump on, opening the bottom drain and adding the salt over the drain, rather than walking around the perimeter while adding the salt. It is recommended that you continue to run the pump for 24 hours so the salt can spread evenly throughout the pool. With Granular salt, 60 – 70% will have dissolved before hitting bottom. The remaining salt can simply be brushed into the drain which will then complete dissolution. With all other forms of salt, it will take longer to dissolve but the same process will accelerate the dissolve rate. Simply brush the salt in a pyramid over the drain to increase dissolution. You will add 50 lbs of salt per 2,000 gallons of water.

Will salt system cause a problem if you have blood pressure issues.
Reply
Hi Andrew - No a salt system will not effect your blood pressure. First the salt level used is a small fraction of the level of sal in sea water. Second, you would have to swallow a significant amout of this diluted salt water before you ingested enough salt to have any impact on your body.

So this one plugs into a standard outlet? So does that mean it always runs? What if the pool pump is on a timer? Thank you.
Reply
These units need to be wired to a pool pump timer or to a pump motor switch. It will only run when the timer is on and there is flow through the system.

I have a temperature and check salt on the display what would cause this
I check my salt levels and there are within spec

Hi Andy, According to the APURE35 Owner's Manual "A combination of extremely low water temperature (close to freezing) and low salt level (~3,500 ppm)." If the salt level is ok and the water temperature is no where near freezing the salt cell will need to be replaced.

Can you replace the blades on the apure35 or do you have to replace the entire cell.
Reply
Hi Starisk, You would have to replace the AquaPure Ei 35 Electrode (R0511400) and maybe the Main O-ring (R0511600) depending on the current o-ring condition.

My salt system reads on no flow and the red light indicate flow what does this means ? I already cleaned the salt cell what's next?
Reply
Hi David, That indicates that there is not enough water flow available to generate chlorine. You may want to try cleaning your filter or check your system for any blockage or clogs.

I have an apure 35. two yrs old. the display shows no flow. there is definitely flow. what goes?
Reply
Hi Roger, If the "No Flow" light in lit but there is water flow it could be that your system isn't producing enough water flow or the filter is dirty. Those are the most common reasons, you can find other cause in the APURE35 Owner's Manual.

My pool has a T-cell 15 salt cell that I am trying to check. It also has a part I cannot identify. It is cylindrical, about 6 inches long, appears to be glass, has bubbles that move forward and metal strips inside. One end appears to be grounded. What is it?What do I do to maintain it? The system is 5 years old. THANK YOU! Marilyn

Hi Marilyn, could you send us a few photos of the part in question as this would help us identify the part and maintenance required.

My Apure 35 has started to leak on the inlet side between the electrode housing and the saddle mount. I cleaned the o-ring groove and seating surfaces and even replaced the o-ring and it still leaks. I disassembled the saddle arrangement and inspected for cracks but found none. I also examined the electrode housing and found no cracks. Any suggestions as to how to stop the leak short of purchasing a new system?
Reply
Hi Phil, you can try lubricating the o-ring to see that will stop the leak or you have have to replace the Saddle Clamp Assy w/ Main O-ring.

When I get everything hooked up (this is the 7th year I have had the Jandy chlorinator) , the flow light goes on and off. When I completed unplug the flow switch the flow light is solid red, but when I have it plugged it in, it goes on and off. I'm assuming it's a bad flow switch, just would like your opinion. Thanks for everything, you guys are great.
Reply
Hi, Greg. Based on your explanation the flow sensor is working fine. When water flow is detected the flow light indicator goes off and when there is no flow the indicator is illuminated letting you know that there is no water flowing through the cell.

I have a JANDY MODEL # APURE35PLG that needs to be replaced. It looks like they are not available anymore. What is the replacement for this?
Hi, Brock. Unfortunately, we do not have a system that will be a direct replacement. The TruClear Saltwater Chlorinator is your best option, however, we do have other Inground Pool Salt Systems that you can use.
