The POOLGUARD ABOVE GROUND POOL ALARM fills the need for better safety in above ground pools. The alarm is completely portable and comes with an in-house remote receiver. The Poolguard Pool Alarm, once installed in the pool, cannot be de-activated; it is always in the alarm ready mode.
The Poolguard Pool Alarm comes with an in-house remote receiver that has a range up to 200 ft., and comes with a 12 volt power supply. The Poolguard poolside alarm works on a 9-volt battery (not included); with a battery life of approximately one year. Audible low battery indicator at the poolside alarm is also indicated by the in house remote receiver.
New sensing technology provides less chance of false alarms due to wind, rain or small objects such as sticks or toys entering the water. Works with pools 30' in diameter and oval pools up to 20' x 40' (800 sq. ft.). The pool alarm can be used with a solar blanket. Most reliable, advanced, and affordable alarm available. Could you tell me how the poolguard would work with the pool pump running 5 hours each day? Would the alarm trigger?

The pump should have no effect on the alarm. Just make sure it is on when you set it up.

I have a round above the ground pool. There is no top rail, it has PVC pipe. Will the Pool Guard alarm attach to that?

The Pool Guard Above Ground Pool Alarm will not attach to a pvc pipe. You may want to consider the Safety Turtle Alarm for your pool type.

Pros: easy to install
Cons: useless if you do not put it in the pool because it you are afraid it will go off in the middle of the night.
I bought this pool alarm as it was the only one I could find for above ground pools. I am very disappointed with it. First, the alarm has no off switch and will sound unless you hold the button until it beeps. The, you only have 5 seconds to put it in the pool or else it will go off. When it goes off, you need to hold the button for at least 8 seconds while its waking up everyone in your house as well as your neighbours before it turns off. If you get it, and know of a storm coming with brisk winds, remove it from the pool otherwise you will need to go out in the rain(if it's raining) to shut it off.
