Does a single speed motor mean my pump runs one speed and only cuts off once the temperature has reached its setting?

Single speed means it goes at the same frequency and not able to adjust the RPM's. There are also dual speed pumps which you are able to switch between two difference frequencies, high and low, and then there are variable speed pumps where you are able to adjust which RPM frequency you would like to run your pump at. Variable speed pumps are usually the most energy efficient pumps because you are able to adjust the frequency to the most efficient setting for your specific pool setup.
