1) Is this good for a Pentair Whisperflow (old model) discharge port? 2) Is this PVC or CPVC? Thnx

Hi, Joseph. This union can be used with the Pentair Whisperflow Pump. The union is made of pvc.

The suction side of my old Pentair WhisperFlo pump was installed with an SCH80 high-temperature nipple. When replacing the pump, I wanted to use these high-temperature slip unions to make future maintenance and repairs easier.
1) Before cutting, make sure to plan out your piping, measure out pipe needed, take note of any additional fittings (couplers, elbows, etc) needed.
2) Cut the old section of plumbing out.
3) Screw the threaded side of the union into the pump.
Important Note for the next steps, make sure you use a pool rated PVC/CPVC cement. Also, plan carefully before you start because the cement dries fast.
4) Use a coupling to connect new 2" pipe to the existing 2" pipe. On my system, I ran out of room for a new coupler. I used a 2" socket saver bit to drill out an existing 2" coupler so I could plumb in a new section of 2" pipe reusing the old coupler.
5) Then connect the slip union to the new section of 2" pipe (Make sure the slip union ring is on the correct side and orientation before you cement it into place!).
6) Screw the slip union together.
7) Fill the pump basket with water and prime the pump.
8) Check and tighten the union if it's leaking water or letting in air.
Congratulations, now you can enjoy easy pump maintenance and repairs!

I absolutely love this product! I used this when replacing my Pentair WhisperFlo pump. This hands down beats the old method of using a SCH80 high temperature nipple. Installation is easy since they thread right into 2" Pentair pumps. Plus, you can't beat the fact that future maintenance and repairs will be much easier since you can remove the entire pump without any cutting pipe.
