what does the tube air bleed do. do you need it

Hello Art. The Air Bleed Tube facilitates the movement air trapped inside the filter from the base of the filter to the top of the filter where it can be discharged by opening the air release valve. The release of trapped air helps maintain filter efficiency. it is recommended but not absolutely essential to filter operation.
