TANK BOTTOM ASSY., 48 SQ FT FNS PLUS (170017)
My in ground pool in Amelia Island, Fl., has a Pentair FNS plus 48 filter system. Bottom tank has sprung a very small leak according to my pool guy. ( I'm living in Mexico this year.). He tells me he's capable of installing the bottom tank and connections. My tel if needed is 904 321-0597. Should I order your part number 170017? Is it in stock?

Hello Peter, it looks like what you have is D.E.Pentair Nautilus FNS Parts which is a fiberglass model 24, 36, 48, and 60. The tank you are looking at to replace this goes to an FNS plus system that is for models 180006, 180007, 180008, 180009 and would possibly not fit the model you have. To be sure I would contact Pentair 800-831-7133 to make sure these models would work. Because the one that is fitted for models 24,36,48,60 it doesn't have a tank replacement it is obsolete.

I have a small leak in the bottom tank of my Pac Fab (Pentair) Filter FNS Plus DE FNS36 filter. I am looking to only replace the bottom tank portion of this assembly. I have located the part # (I believe is PN 170017). My question is can provide me with the replacement part # as I have noticed on several websites that this part number is obsolete with prices ranging from $230 - $400. I am trying to watch the $. Is there another tank bottom, perhaps a generic brand that would fit my filter? Thx

Part number 170017 is the bottom tank for a 48 sq ft filter, if you have the FNS36 you need the 36 sq ft bottom tank, part number 4600-0016.

Greetings:
Looks like you've got the best price. I just want to confirm this is what I need in order to replace my 180008 Pentair FNS Plus D.E. bottom tank.

at a lost, installed new 170017, new multiport valve and O-ring for stand pipe, still have de getting back into the pool, is it time to replace the bottom half of the filter tank , unit is 13 years old, thanks

While it is hard for us to recommend spending $ on a filter that is over 10 yrs old you need to look at your filter grids, possibly have a hole or tear in a grid allowing DE to pass back into the pool.

I had just came back from vacation and much to my horror when I went to check on my pool I discovered a steady leak shooting out from my Pentair tub like a Roman fountain! Whatever calm and peace I had achieved on vacation was gone. The first thing I did was take the lazy way out. First I tried to seal it with Flex Seal and when that didn't work I tried Liquid Nail. Both products failed. So, I got on my computer and did some serious searching. Leslie Pools wanted to charge me $462.00 which I thought was too much so I dug deeper and came across Inyo Pools who asked for $348.00 for the same replacement part with free shipping. A no brainer. When the part arrived in came in perfect condition. The only thing I had to buy were 16 inch channel locks to loosen the caps holding the tub to the back flush assembly. Before lifting out the grids with the manifold and spider attached, I did a one minute backflush then opened up the pressure gage on top of the filter. After that I removed the clamp assembly then I loosened the caps and removed the old tub. Next, I lubricated the slip o rings inside the caps then I hand tightened the caps connecting the backflush assembly to the tub. After that, I lubricated the bulk head o ring and replaced the top filter and tightened the clamp assembly. With the pressure gage open I turned on the power to let all the air out. Once water shot out of the pressure gage I closed the gage and checked for leaks. Perfect installation. No leaks, not one drop anywhere. I quickly added DE powder and checked the pool for leaks but everything came out perfect. Bottom line, I will definitely be doing more business with INYO in the future. Very competent company who are customer friendly with a chat feature! Who else does that?
