Leak at the flange to the Laars Lite heater

I saw a leak at the flange between the heater and the pvc pipes. There are two bolts that connect the flange to the heater. Remove those bolts and pull the pvc pipe away from the heater. When I did this, I could see that the sleeve was bent and cracked. I replaced the sleeve with the new one, put some Magic Lube on the flange gasket, aligned the flange back on the heater and tightened the bolts making sure not to tighten too much to crack the new sleeve. Turned on the pump and there was no more leak.
