Product Description

Module, Nat. Gas S8600F (073584)

Reliable ignition control for natural gas intermittent pilot (IP) systems. Designed to restore safe, consistent starts on compatible pool heaters, boilers, and furnaces.

Why This Module?

Fixes no-ignite / random lockouts — replaces a failing ignition control so burners light consistently.
Built for Natural Gas IP systems — spark-ignites pilot, verifies flame, then opens main gas for a smooth start.
Fast drop-in replacement — wiring layout and mounting pattern match common S8600F setups.
Protects your equipment — proper ignition prevents raw-gas dumps and soot buildup, helping heat exchangers last longer.

Key Features

✅ Intermittent Pilot (IP) control for Natural Gas
✅ 24 VAC control circuit compatibility
✅ Flame rectification sensing for safe main-burner release
✅ Lockout safety on failed ignition attempts
✅ Durable protective enclosure

What’s Included

✅ S8600F ignition control module (Nat. Gas)
Not included: harness, spark cable, pilot assembly, or orifices (reuse existing or purchase separately).
⚠️ Professional installation recommended — gas work must follow local codes.

Compatibility

✅ Systems using: spark-lit pilot, flame sensor rod, then main burner.
⚠️ Gas Type: Natural Gas only (not LP/Propane).
⚠️ Not for Hot Surface Ignition (HSI) or Direct Spark Ignition (DSI) systems.
➜ Cross-Reference: S8600F | Manufacturer/Alt P/N: 073584 (verify with your equipment manual).

Specs

  • Control Voltage: 24 VAC

  • Ignition Type: Intermittent Pilot (spark to pilot, flame sense, main valve)

  • Application: Natural Gas pool heaters/boilers/furnaces with IP systems

  • Mounting: Surface mount (standard S8600F footprint)

(Exact ratings/ambient limits vary; follow equipment manual.)

Install Notes

Power off at breaker and gas off at shutoff valve.
➜ Label and transfer wires one-for-one from old module.
➜ Confirm Natural Gas supply and correct pilot flame.
➜ Leak-check and run ignition test after install.
⚠️ If lockouts persist, check pilot assembly, grounding, flame sensor, and gas pressure.

Why are there three configurations of part #6272-38 (073584)? Will they all work on my mini 400 natural gas pool heater? The one I want to replace HAS four contacts on the left, a space, then two contacts, and a single contact on the right.

Hello, In the three photos we show 2 different possible modules, one in grey and one in black. Either one has a total of seven contacts, the black one the spark contact is on the face of the module. The module is the correct replacement for the Pentair Minimax Plus or PowerMax natural gas heater series.
