I have an H150 heater. The pilot light is lighting but the heat exchanger is not catching unless I light it manually. What part is this?

Hi. This part is an igniter assembly for an electronic unit which will light the pilot. The problem could be the igniter, the control assembly.

I HAVE A HAYWARD MODEL #H250PED2 POOL HEATER. WHEN I WENT TO START IT, IT GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE "I-F". I'M GUESSING THAT STANDS FOR "IGNITION FAILURE". IT DOESN'T LIGHT AT ALL. I CAN HEAR A CLICK BUT THEN NO IGNITION. AM I ASSUMING THIS IS THE RIGHT PART?

While IF actually stands for Ignition Failure, this code is often referred to as the Insufficient Fuel code – since the most common reason for an “IF” code is inadequate gas supply to the heater.“IF” occurs when the heater passes all safety checks but the heater fails to ignite. Without the proper gas/air mixture, the heater will not light. Since the heater has gone through most of the steps within the Sequence of Operation, the problem is most likely gas supply or a faulty ignition board, flame sensor, ignitor or gas valve. Investigate and ensure that the gas train is correct. The source of an IF code is found in the gas train 90% of the time.

I have a older model H400ED2 pool heater. I having problems with it firing. I doesn't seem to want to ignite when I start it. When it does if it does it starts what a pretty good boom.? Do you think that the igniter needs replaced. When it does fire it seems to work fine.

Hi Billy, this could be caused by a number of possibilities. Here is a guide that we put together called "The Most Common Swimming Pool Heater Problems" that might assist. It may also be that parts are clogged with carbon within the unit itself but we recommend in these instances to have a CPC(certified pool contractor) inspect the unit.
