DOES THIS GASKET FIT HAYWARD HOUSING MODEL # SP-600 OR SP-607
Reply
Ron, This gasket will only work on the Hayward Astrolite - SP580 Series. Model number SP-600 & SP-607 reference the niche not the light fixture.

Hi Ben, The Lens Gasket for Starlite, Duralite, CHD and Poolstar Light (SP-540-Z-2) would be the correct replacement for your Hayward Starlite Light. You can find other replacement parts via the Hayward Starlite Parts Diagram.

The problem was that our pool light was leaking and the incandescent bulb was blown.
We wanted to see if it was an old gasket that had not been replaced when the last bulb was installed.
If the light continues to leak and bulbs blow, then the whole unit will need replacement, creating an opportunity to then bite the bullet and pay for a new LED setup to go with the existing 12V system.
Shut off power to existing pool light. Remove light and enclosure from niche by unscrewing retaining screws. My unit has one at the base. Refer to the internet as your unit may be different.
Place the unit on the deck. Unscrew stainless steel ring. This ring holds the lens glass to the unit and intern to the plastic cover plate. It's a great idea to take a picture of the assembly position before disassembling to make reassembling identical.
Remove old gasket from light lens paying attention to the front facing edge.
Clean glass lens edge, fit new gasket, making sure it faces the same way as the old one.
Make sure to dry fit everything before reassembling. Test light! Replace niche in the pool and secure back with plastic ring and screw(s).

Removed each light from the niche with a single screw. Layed the fixture on a towel on the pool deck, Removed the clamp from the fixture with a single screw. Screw nuts dissolved as soon as the screw turned. Discovered that the plastic face rims were melted/deformed on both lights. Ordered replacement face rims from Inyo - delivered the next day. Removed the lens and replaced the gasket. Screwed in the new LED bulbs. Added a thin bead of silicone gasket lube. Placed the lens back on the fixture. Fitted the new face rim to the light and aligned the clamp. Replaced the screws and nuts with new stainless steel parts. Reattached the fixture into the niche via the 'hook' on the bottom of the face rim and the screw on the top. Takes a little patience to get the screw to bite, especially in the deep end. New lights look awesome!

(5 out of 5 stars) Gasket to use When Replacing an Under Water Pool Light
Reviewed By: Inyo Customer ()
I had to replace an under water pool light (Hayward Pool Light Model SP058115). This gasket Astrolite LensGasket SPX0580Z2 (Generic). It was really cheap insurance to replace the gasket sealing the water out when you replace the pool bulb. This job took very little skill to accomplish myself, and I am very happy to have saved myself hundreds of dollars by doing it myself. The light has been working for several months now, so it seems to have worked well.

While reading the online instructions for pool light bulb replacement, they recommended purchasing a new gasket as well. I'm glad they did since the old one was falling apart when I removed it. Great advice! I'm glad I listened.
