I have a Sta-Rite, SYSTEM3, Model # S8S70 WIDTH 40" Sand filter. that the manifold assembly has a crack around its base and is leaking sand. The laterals are fine but due to the crack they don't seat properly. I believe I will need a new manifold assembly. The date on the Sta-Rite is 08/04/2011. I want to make sure that I get the correct sized manifold. Do you need any additional information to assure that the manifold is the correct size?

My pool was leaking salt into the pool so I replace the tree inside the sand filter and it is working fine.

I took the cover off of the system 3 sand filter.

I removed the sand with a small bucket and a shopvack.

I then removed the bottom value and washed out the inside of the chamber.

I then started unscrewing the two ports that are in the chamber gong into master the value with a plumbing wrench.

After removing the two ports I removed the tree inside the chamber.
I then aligned the two ports which go into the master value. I screwed the ports back into the chamber.

I replace the bottom port, which is on other side of the two ports.

I then added water in the chamber until the water is above hexagon ports on tree.
Once the water was added I started adding sand slowly in the chamber until the sand was above the hexagon ports. I made sure the sand was equal on all sides of the chamber.

I then Started to add sand until it reached the halfway point of the chamber. This was 300 pounds of sand.

I then clean the gasket on the big chamber. I put the gasket back on the outside of the chamber making sure the gasket was turn properly before applying the gasket to canal where the gasket resides.

I apply soap to the gasket for a better seal. I then added more water to make sure no ports were leaking. I attached the top part of the chamber making sure the clamps were attached fully.
