1. Assess heater and mounting bracket for condition and extent of what is needed to fix your heater. In my case, the bracket rusted to the point where it could no longer hold the pilot. (The mounting bracket attaches to the burner tray so you want to check to see if the burner tray structure is still solid. Heat, dampness, and time causes rust and if the burner tray needs to be replaced, you need to assess what needs replacement or whether this is a bigger job that caused the need to replace the mounting bracket. The mounting bracket is just a simple one screw attachment to the side of the burner tray if the burner tray is in good condition.)
2. Check the other parts to make sure that they don't need replacement. The pilot and MV generator attach to this mounting bracket. If they are in decent condition, there are two small screws that attach them to this bracket. If they are not, order the pilot kit. You should also check the pilot lighter tube condition as it slides into this bracket when everything is put together.
3. For safety - shut the gas off
4. Take pictures for reassembly and for before and after.
5. Carefully disconnect pilot gas feed tube from gas valve.
6. Also carefully disconnect wires for MV generator from gas valve.
5. Remove screw that holds old pilot mounting bracket to side of the burner tray.
6. Carefully pull old mounting bracket out of heater.
7. If the old pilot assembly is in good condition, you can take the two screws that hold it to the old pilot mounting bracket and attach it to the new one. if not in good condition, replace with a new pilot assembly.
8. Attach pilot and new mounting bracket to burner tray.
9. Reattach pilot gas tube and MV generator wires to burner.
10. Check for proper reassembly against pictures from above.
11. Turn gas back on and check for leaks with soapy water.
12. If no leaks, light pilot.
* This job is relatively simple provided you are just replacing the mounting bracket and all parts are in decent to good shape. If the burner tray is bad (completely rusted out), you may want to assess whether you want to tackle a much bigger job or hire a professional.

Pros: Exact replacement part. Easy to find on the web site. Delivery on time.
Cons: None
This bracket was as good or better than the manufacturer's original part. The web site is the best I have seen for finding parts. My heater is 15 years old and works great but has some wear and tear and I occasionally need to replace parts. This was the only place in the country I could find it. Delivery was as promised.
