We want to replace our filter cartridge. It says we have a Porpoise PA175. What is the correct replacement cartridge?

Hi: I noticed you have a procedure to calculate shipping charges to Puerto Rico. I am interested in this generic cartridge but do not want to go thru the process. Is it possible? I will be paying my purchase with a credit card or paypal which better fits. Thanks.

Hi Rodo. You can get to the point where you put it in your shopping cart and estimate he shipping cost then cancel if you like. It won't process until you complete "Checkout." I tried it on my account to ship to several different postal codes in Puerto Rico via UPS Ground (the cheapest) and got $88 for shipping. The size (28") of the cartridge is what drives the price up. A much heavier item but smaller will usually be much less expensive.

Our Hayward filter has the number C1750E, this is the 1st time trying to find a filter replacement the pool is a year old. Would the PA175 filter work?

What is the model number of your Hayward filter? I do not show a Hayward cartridge that matches those specs.

May need pliers to loosen knobs.

Ordered new filter cartridge. Released pressure on the filter itself with small knob on top of filter. Rotated large handle until top half of filter released. Took top half of filter off and removed old filter. Opened bottom knob on filter allowing water and any debris to run out. Sprayed with hose to rinse thoroughly. Replaced knob after lubing gasket. Inserted new filter. Replaced top half of filter. Be sure to lube large gasket before tightening top half of filter. Turn on pump. Release pressure on filter as appropriate.

I bought this filter to replace a Hayward original filter. The price of the stock Hayward filter was incredibly much too high at the local pool store. I was unable to find a reasonably priced Hayward filter online either. At a lower price I thought I would give this filter a try. The build quality appeared to be adequate. I placed the filter in and experienced excellent results. If you want a quality filter that costs about half as much as the stock filter and gives excellent results this is the filter. However, it lasted about 11 month.

I had problems with filters purchased at local pool stores. I have a lot of trees close by, leaves and debris are a problem. I also suspected a blow by with the other filters. The Hayward has a better fit.

Power down the system, let pressure drop off; release residual pressure; pop the top off the housing, replace the old filter with the nee, oil the O rings and reseal system. Clean pump catch tank and fire it up
