i purchased the raypak 8350 and the technitions just left. The heater shows heating , but so quiet doesnt seem like compressor has kicked on. Is this possible or has the compressor not kicked on. In fact, its cold @ 52 degrees and the pool temp showed a drop in pool water temp ,but heating light lite....

If the air outside the heat pump is too cold, the heat pump will not operate. The actual point at which the unit will cease operating due to low temperature varies. Current weather conditions, the amount of sunlight reaching the heat pump, and the installation quality are primary contributors to this event. The shutdown will occur near or around 50°F (10°C).

any reason i cannot reduce immediately from 2" to 1 1/2" piping in/out of this unit?
my current system is all 1 1/2" @ approx. 50 GPM & 8 ft/s & would prefer to keep all valving, fittings & runs the same size. only flow spec i see in the manual for this unit is 15 - 60 GPM, no velocity band stated.
Reply
Hi. The plumbing can be reduced to 1-1/2 inches, the GPM is the velocity rating of the unit.

I want to buy a heat/cool heat pump and I want to control the water temp and pump remotely through wifi. Can this unit be controlled this way? Do you sell the controls to do this?
Reply
Hello, yes this can be controlled by an automation system, but the system you need is based on the relay that you have.
