Hi Chris, Yes if you are just needing to replace the motor on your Super Pump then this SPX1605Z1M Motor is the correct motor. You can also go with this UST1072 Motor as it is the exact same motor at a lower price. When replacing your motor you will also need this Hayward Super Pump Seal Kit We put together this Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which you may find helpful when you tackle this project.

Have a 3/4 hp Hayward super pump motor that is 20 years old. Is the MAXRATE MOTOR COMPATIABLE to the super pump? I have a model #W3SP2605X7 THAT INCLUDES SKIMMER BASKET. I'm looking just for the motor. Thank you

Have a pump motor by AO Smith (UST1072) that I'm replacing. Is it worth upgrading from the single speed to the variable speed pumps and if so, what variable speed pump would you recommend?

Hello Jonathon, yes it is worth investing into a variable speed motor as during the usage of the lower RPM settings it will draw less amperage giving you energy efficiency. For your motor model the correct variable speed model is the ECM16CU. We also recommend replacing the seals and gaskets when replacing a pool pump motor. Here is our "Finding the Tune-Up Kit for Your Pool Pump" guide that we put together that should assist you with that process.
