I have a 24ft round, 52" high above ground. Which Hayward Cartrige Filter would be appropriate ? Thx

Hello John. The volume of an above-ground pool with the dimensions of 24' round, 52" height is approx. 14,700 gallons. The Star Clear Plus 120 Sq Ft. Filter 2" Ports - W3C12002 would be an appropriately sized cartridge filter. Attached please find a brief tutorial How to Size an Above Ground Pool Filter

Is this pump suitable for a 25,000 gallon inground pool ?

Hello. In order to make an appropriate recommendation additional information is necessary. Your question refers to a pump but the attachment identifies a filter. Are you looking for information concerning a Pool Pump or a Pool Filter? If it is a question of filter sizing for a 25,000-gallon pool, then the Hayward Star Clear 50 sq ft is NOT an appropriate size for this pool. Filter sizing is dependant upon a number of factors. Please review the attached brief tutorial for some quick fundamentals. As a rough estimate, solely based on the 25,000-gallon volume, a Hayward SwimClear Large Capacity Cartridge Filter model C3030 would seem more appropriate. Hi, Jeff. This filter will work only if your pump water flow output is less than 50 GPM. I would recommend using our How To: Size a Pool Filter guide to find out what size filter you will need for your pool. You can also call us at 407-834-2200 if you have any questions.

Will this replace a Hayward ec45 . Looking to get away from de
Reply
Hi Nick, This would replace an EC45 but if your pocket book can afford it I would suggest something a little larger like the Hayward C751 75 Sq. Ft. Filter as you will get longer life out of your cartridges, longer times between cleaning your cartridges and you will put less stress on your pump resulting in a longer pump life.

Could you give me an estimate of how from your pump is from your main drain. I'm just estimating the flow rate so I know if that filter is able to handle the flow rate from that pump.

What size pump is needed for this filter?

The filter is not intended to accommodate more than 50 Gallons Of Water per minute. A 1/2hp Hayward PowerFlo II Single Speed Pump would just be a little higher, but is the lowest I can find.

Are there specs on how many microns this filter is rated at? Is there available another filter that won't allow finer particles to pass through?
Reply
As a rule, sand filters sift particles ranging from 20 to 40 microns in size. Cartridge filters can sift particles as small as 10 to 20 microns in size. DE filters can sift contaminants as small as 1 to 3 microns in size. This makes DE filtration at least five to six times more efficient than sand filtration systems.
