I recently changed my pool motor and gaskets. I made sure to lubricate all the gaskets with vaseline. A few days later water is leaking from the pump. What did I do wrong? Help please!!

You never want to use vaseline on any rubber gaskets or o-rings. Vaseline is petroleum based and will deteriorate the rubber quickly. Whenever you change the motor on a pool pump it is recommended that you replace the gaskets and shaft seal as well. A >Go-kit contains the shaft seal, packet of non-petroleum based lubricant and gaskets you will need for your pump. If you already have the gaskets, you can purchase >Magic Lube.

Is this OK for the chlorinator lid o-ring, or should I stick with silicone? Thanks.

Hi Bill, this teflon based lubricant would be perfectly fine for your chlorinator lid o-ring.

I just placed an order for some O-rings and forgot the lube would it be possible to add a tube of Magic lube to the order #673751?

Doug, you would have to purchase the lube separately, or you can buy it locally at a hardware store.

I plan to use this Magic Lube #630 on my Polyurethane bushings on my truck but I cannot find information anywhere that would tell me that this lube is safe with polyurethanes. I've even looked on safety data sheets (even here) and all it says it that it is safe with MOST rubbers. Can anyone tell me if this Magic Lube #630 is safe to use on Polyurethane bushings? If so, can you please let me know where to look up this info so I can see it firsthand? That would be most appreciated! Thanks

Hi, Mikegyver. Unfortunately, I was not able to find any info confirming that the Magic Lube lubricant can be used on polyurethane bushing. You may want to contact Aladdin at 1.800.854.2466.

Bad pump

Written on 10/25/2024 by Guest

Pulled pump apart and went to put back together and the lube provided to put back together included silicone and FPTE. The pump specifically says “never” use silicone or FTPE on the pump that will result in early failure. Thanks for nothing!

Not a problem

Written on 8/28/2020 by Guest

Since I have a new pool, several items needed to be purchased to do proper maintenance of the pool. I know that many people use Vaseline to lubricate O rings on the pump. Problem is that even though it will work for a short period of time, why not spend a small amount of money for some Teflon grease and the rings will last longer. Use Teflon grease for any O ring on your equipment
1.Remove cover of pool pump.
2. Carefully remove O ring.
3. Inspect O ring for any cracks, damage, etc.
3. Clean O ring if undamaged
4. Lubricate O ring with Teflon grease ( doesn't have to be a lot).
5. Set O ring aside and finish maintenance of pump.
6. Carefully put cover back on pool pump.

Gaskets and Seals on Cartridge Filter Don't Sit Right

Clean gaskets and seals thoroughly then apply light coat of lube. Now the seals glide and don't bind up creating a good seal and no more leaks.

Disassembled Pump and Motor. Needed Lubricant Before Reassembly

Written on 5/27/2019 by Guest

It's the beginning of pool season in central Florida. I disassembled my motor from the pump housing after seeing a leak, noticed the condition of the seals and pump parts, ordered parts from Inyopools.com that I needed after reviewing their How to Videos (Matt & Rob) and detailed illustrations on my pump and Motor. I lubricated and replaced the the seals and other parts and it's working great. I had seen other online videos about pool lubricants and many people were not using the correct lube. Not only will it make the pool pump work properly but the seals will also last longer.

My Predator Pool filter began began to leak around the filter body gasket

Written on 4/29/2017 by Guest

1. I closed the valves for the inlet and outlet of the filter.
2. Drained the water to below the cover joint.
3. Removed the closure ring and the cover and then removed the existing o-ring.
3. I ordered a new O- ring gasket for body/top joint.
4. It was recommended that I coat the new O - Ring with the Magic Lube O-Ring Lubricant 5. I coated the O - Ring and reinstalled it and the cover on the filter.
6. Refilled the filter allowing the air to vent and opened the inlet and outlet valves.

The project was successful
