When I have the handle in the "UP" position, water comes out of the return elbow at the bottom. Could anyone explain the "FILTERING MODE" since water is coming out of the return when following the instructions above?Reply

First, what is the model number of your valve? This will help me confirm the normal settings and how the hand should be positioned to achieve them. Normal filter mode means the water would be entering the valve, then the filter, and then out the filter's return line. Water should not be exiting from the waste line. The slide valve in the guide shows the return line as the port with an elbow turn. It sounds like your valve is working as it should.Reply

I want to lube the o-rings in the valve, but I can't unscrew it. Any tips?Reply

Try spraying the screws with some WD-40 and let that sit for a couple of minutes. Hopefully, that will be enough to free up the screws.Reply

Hello triciage50 - The gaskets within the slide valve have probably expanded and need to be replaced. If you can't remove the piston assembly, we recommend replacing the complete valve.Reply

I am not able to lift the valve to be able to backwash. What is recommended?Reply

the value needs to be cleaned. Unscrew cap pull up slowly, should come out. clean, lube, put back in. There is a tab on the bottom of the value to set back in correctly. Have lube ready to apply and replace. Good luck.Reply

John - It's just a simpler valve system. Not as efficient as the 6-7 function valves.Reply

Why is there no rinse cycle with this valve??Reply

Jim Davis - We recommend backwashing for 2-3 minutes until the waste water is clear.Reply

How long should the back flush valve be left open--is there an optimal time for flushing the filter?Reply
