Step 1

Shut off Power to the Light - Turn off the power to the pool light by flipping the breaker in your electrical panel. This step ensures safety while working with the electrical components of the light fixture.

Step 2

Locate the Light Fixture - Identify the location of the pool light fixture, which is typically installed in the pool wall.

Note: The water level does not need to be lowered when replacing the light bulb.

Step 3

Loosen the Pilot Screw - Using a Phillips head screwdriver, carefully loosen the screw that secures the light fixture to the pool niche. This will allow you to remove the fixture for servicing.

Step 4

Remove the Fixture from the Pool Wall - Gently pull the fixture out of the niche and place it on the pool deck.

Note: There is extra cable behind the light fixture, which allows you to lift the light out without having to pull the cable through the niche.

Step 5

Disassemble the Light Fixture - The disassembly process may vary depending on the make and model of the light fixture.

For this light, there is a clamp on the backside that secures the fixture. Loosen the bolt on the clamp until it can be removed.

Step 6

Remove Lens from Pool Light - Once the clamp is loosened, carefully remove the lens and face ring from the light fixture. Set them aside in a safe location.

Step 7

Replace the Lens Gasket - We highly recommend replacing the gasket when installing a new bulb to ensure a proper seal. To install the gasket, slide the lens into the gasket's groove, making sure it is securely seated. Set Aside.

Step 8

Replace the Bulb - Unscrew the old bulb and thread in the new bulb.

Verify that the replacement bulb matches the voltage of the original bulb.

Step 9

Reassemble the Fixture - Position the gasket and lens onto the front of the light fixture. Place the face ring over the lens and gasket, ensuring proper alignment. Secure the face ring to the light fixture by tightening the bolt and clamp until everything is firmly in place.

Step 10

Test the Watertight Seal - Submerge the light fixture underwater and check for air bubbles escaping around the lens. If bubbles appear, tighten the clamp further or remove the lens, reseat the gasket, and reassemble to ensure a proper seal.

Step 11

Reinstall the Fixture in the Pool Wall - Carefully place the fixture back into the niche, ensuring it is properly aligned. Secure it with the pilot screw to hold it in place. If there is excess cord, wrap it neatly around the back of the fixture to prevent tangling or obstruction.

Step 12

Test the Light - Turn the power back on at the breaker and test the light to ensure it’s working properly.

Step 13

Controlling the Light - If your pool light is a color-changing LED, you can adjust the colors by toggling the light switch off and back on. Each toggle cycles through the available color options.
