I have a sta rite s48a53a03 motor for my above ground pool and want to replace it. Is this the correct replacement motor? what other kits will I need? Thanks

Hi Bill, Yes this is the correct replacement motor for you s48a53a03 motor. The most common Sta-Rite pump this motor was used on was the JWPA series, if you have a JWPA pump then you would require the Sta-Rite JWPA Shaft Seal. If you don't have the JWPA pump then send us an email with your pump model or a picture of your pump and we will let you know the shaft seal you need.

I have an Optiflo 347986 1.5 HP that I need to replace. I'd like to replace it with a 1 HP duel speed motor. Can you help me with the replacement including shaft seal kit? Also, does it come with an on/off switch including toggling between the speeds? Thanks

Hi George, If you replaced your 1.5 hp motor with a 1 HP dual speed motor then this would require that you replace your motor, impeller, tune up kit and you would need to purchase a switch separately. All of these items would cost more than a new 1 HP dual speed pump. With this being said I would suggest the 1 HP Dual Speed Dynamo Pump the Dynamo pump does have the hi / lo switch integrated into the motor. It does not come with a cord as you would use the cord from your old pump for the new pump.

I replaced bearings, capacitor, GFCI switch and then the motor fan failed. INYO lined me up with the correct motor replacement. I did some new dedicated 12/2 wiring and installed the new motor. IT RUNS LIKE A CHAMP!!!!!
Very strong flow, better than ever! Plus, my hot tub relies on the motor for HEAT too, and that is back to a nice normal 100 degree default too. ( AND it's winter here, and 30 degrees at night! ) I am extremely happy with the results and can't wait to slip into a nice warm hot tub and gaze at the stars !!!! I did have a setback when I first re-wired the motor - for 120 V you have to move the black and white stripe wire to terminal 5 ( from term 3 ) and move the black wire to terminal 6 ( from term 5 ) Once I did that, it worked correctly!!! Thank you !

Pros: Capacitor can be replaced
Cons: Does not come with cord
I'll try to put a positive spin on a motor clearly assembeled by a 7 year old in China. This is the theme everywhere, not just here. INYO Pools customer service was great and shipping time was acceptable. I bought this in the off season, so shipping time was not an issue for me. INYO Pools have nice instruction videos to help with the replacement. The motor has access to the capacator when removing the end cover. This is good because most motors only need a capacator to fix them. The end cover isn't weather tight, nor are the plugs in the end cover to install the power cord. Not sure if this matters, I'll RTV the seams. I whish there was an option to have the cord installed on the motor, but no big deal. I suspect it's because there are so many different cord types due to pool codes from our retarded government. I have not been able to plug it in and run it yet because it's still winter, but there is no reason for it not to work. I also bought a mechanical seal and some o-rings for the pump here. A bit over priced compared to other places like ebay, but it was just as easy to buy them here. Overall positive experience with INYO Pools.
