How do I tell the difference between old style and new style shaft seal
Reply
Ronny, The best way to tell is by the serial number listed on the pump body (housing). The old style seal is used with serial #s prior to P08FF0001. If you have the above serial # or later, you would use the new style shaft seal.

My Jandy Stealth SHPM 2.0 serial # is L07FD3409. What seal do I need

The seal that would be needed for a Jandy Stealth SHPH ( 2006-current ) would be part number 5020-087. Here is the parts diagram for the Jandy Stealth SHPM

Where should the serial number be on a Jandy PlusHP? Would it be a sticker that might have gone missing or is there a more permanent number I can get off it somewhere?
Reply
Lauren, the serial number will be on the wet end of the pump near the pump basket. It is usally on a sticker or metal label.

I have the Jandy Stealth SHPF 2.0-2 Ser# MO7FG1155. Do I need the old or new style shaft seal to go with my new B984 I just ordered from you?

Hi Mike, This would be the correct seal for your Jandy Stealth Pump as this seal is used on Stealth Pumps with Serial #'s of P08FF0001 and earlier.

I have not been able to find anything on which way the spring deal should be put in on the shaft. The seal pooped out on me and did not know which way it was in. Should the hard plastic surface on the spring seal go to the white surface of the white seal. Might be a dum question but thanks. I'm thinking go the way I have asked is right but not sure. Thanks.

Hello Justin, The seal should go on the back of the impeller shaft with the black plastic ring facing the white ceramic seal. The black plastic ring will make the seal once it is pressed against the white ceramic piece.

I have a Polaris PB4-60 booster pump with a Century/ A O Smith motor serial number is 227113M part number 7-172840-23. I need the impeller which is eaten away from chemicals or wear and shaft seal. I believe the shaft is 13/16" but not sure.
I have Jandy SHPM 2.5 HP Stealth Pump. You advised me previously that the B2843 is the motor for the pump. Does this shaft seal fit the motor. The SN is 208093M. The pump is only used to run the water features. Is the motor energy efficient?

I have a 3 yr old Jandy Plus HP 1.5 HP Pump Model Number V16FG0645. The original Century Motor went out after 3 years and I replaced it with a US Motor which is now shutting off on thermal overload. I've checked the pump and nothing is binding or squealing , the replaced shaft seal is fine, cleaned the filter and checked the suction side and have found no problems. I suspect the motor is failing and needs to be replaced. I need to know the correct motor and shaft seal for this pump.

I would verify that the motor is receiving full voltage when it is trying to run. If the voltage drops when motor kicks on then it will cause the motor to run hot. You should have an electrician do this testing as you would be dealing with live voltage. If it is verified the voltage drops more than 2 volts when the pump starts to run the electrician should then look for the loose connections in wiring. He can also check the amperage being pulled if the voltage drops then the amperage will increase because it is starving.

The shaft seal will actually be based on the model name or number of the front pump wet end housing that the motor is attached to.

Hi Dave, Could you supply us the serial # off of your pump as this will determine the shaft seal. The serial # should be on a small label near the model #.

My Stealth Pump is NOFA6851 and I need shaft seal. From what I can find out a 13/16" ID seal is required which is difficult to source. Your listing shows 3/4" ID which seems odd as that isn't what Jandy A0580500 seems to be?

Hi Frederick, Would it be possible to post a photo of the label on your Jandy Stealth pump which shows the pump model number and serial #? This is usually a small label on the plastic pump housing and the model # should start with JHP or SHP. Simply click the reply link below to post to upload your photos. Once we receive those photos then we can make the proper suggestion.

The full model name is SHPM1-OCND and serial No: N08FA6851 (my understanding is that would be before change to smaller ID seal) What is somewhat confusing is that Jandy calls for 13/16" seal and you list seal as 3/4" seal?

Hi. Little confused here my volute looks like the 2011 and after, but the frame number is N56CZ which should be 2011 and below not sure which shaft seal i should get
Hello Jim. The OEM Shaft Seal Pump Shaft Seal 3/4" - R0445500 or Generic Shaft Seal Pump Shaft Seal 3/4" PS-201 are the compatible shaft seal for the Polaris Booster Pump PB4-60 (2011-Current). The volute shape, in the photo provided, is specific to the manufacturing years 2011-Current. The motor frame N56CZ spans the manufacturing years 1994-2011. Manufacturing years prior to 1994 utilized the 56C motor frame.

I have a Jandy PlusHP pump Mod# PHPM1.5 Ser# U13FE3421 that I am replacing the motor and some associated seals. I would like to confirm that I am getting the correct motor and pump shaft seal. The motor I was going to order is Century 1.5 HP Square Flange 56Y Up Rate Motor - B2854 is this the correct one? Attached are photos of the information plates. Thanks
Hello Wade. The Century 1.5 HP Square Flange 56Y Up Rate Motor - B2854 is a compatible motor replacement for the Century Centurion Motor model 0-196986-24. The Jandy Pump Shaft Seal 5/8" - R0479400 is the appropriate shaft seal for the Jandy PlusHP, serial number U13FE3421. This serial number indicates the pump's production date is after serial number P08FF0001.
