I have an AquaRite that uses the t-cell-15. The system is 5/6 years old. Do I need a soft ware update?
Reply
No you would not need a software update, the GLXCELL15 would work fine with your system here >http://www.inyopools.com/Products/02100023001296.htm The GLXCELL15 comes without the flow switch which you would not require. The only time you would need a software upgrade is if you went with one of the smaller cells which just came out in 2009 if for example you tried to install a TCELL3 your software would not recognize this cell but the GLXCELL15 (TCELL15) is recognized by all versions of the software.
Reply
Does the Hayward GLXCELL15 (T-CELL-15) come with a flow switch?
Reply
No, the GLXCELL15 does not come with a flow switch. Most of the time the flow switch does not need to be replaced as often as the salt cell.
Reply
How do I clean the TCELL15?
Reply
To clean the TCELL15 you will need to first use a water hose to try and hose off the scale build up. Then use a water to muriatic acid mixture of 4 to 1 to clean the plates. Always add the acid to the water. Let stand for approximately 15 minutes. You can then rinse and reinstall.
Reply
Absolutely correct, it's always the three AAA+W never the other way around. (Always Add Acid to Water)

Will this work with an Aqua Logic system or only the Aqua Rite system? Is there a difference between t cell 15 and 15w?
Reply
The GLXCELL15 will work with the AquaRite, AquaLogic and ProLogic systems. Depending on the age of your system, you may want to double check yoru software revision. The difference between the 2 cell is that the GLXCELL15 has a 3 year warranty and the GLXCELL15W has only a 1 year warranty.

Reply
Hi, Kevin. That error message indicates that the salt level in your pool is higher than normal. You would need to test your salt level to determine the actual salt level of your pool. If the salt level is higher than 3400 ppm you will need to dilute the pool by adding fresh water.

My pool is 12,000 gallons. I have a T 15 salt cell. I think I need to replace it. Can I use a T-3 instead since the cost is so much lower?
Reply
Hi, James. You can replace the T-Cell 15 with the T-Cell 3 if your controller has a software revision of 1.50 or higher. Also, it is price lower but it will not last as long as the T-Cell 15 on your pool. The lower percentage that the cell run on the longer the cell will last.

Yes, if you have a 20,000 gallon pool I would recommend the T15 because the cell will not have to work as hard making it last longer.

Voltage reading varies daily from 3.7-4.2
Cell is approx. 4 years old. Even though cell tested ok, does this mean it is near end of life??

Hi, Gary. The correct operating voltage should range between 22.0 – 26.0 VDC and the amp range between 3.1 – 8.0 when using a T-CELL-15. The issue could be the cell or the PC Board.

If the ‘Inspect Cell’ light flashes by itself, it is an early indication that the cell life is coming to an end. Each cell is equipped with 500 operational hours and requires a manual reset once it expires. The remedy is to reset the cell by holding down the ‘Diagnostic’ button for 3-5 seconds.

Hi Mike, This cell is compatible with your system. I would take a chlorine reading directly at the return jet and most likely you will get a chlorine reading. If so then check you CYA as most likely it is too low and the chlorine is getting quickly burnt off by the summer sun. I'm going through this exact same thing with my pool as my CYA was down to 10.

I have an AquaRite w/ no Cl production despite adequate salt (water test). Lights: solid low salt/inspect cell. I assumed the T-15 (8 yrs old & cleaned) failed, but before buying I had pool store check it and it passed. Was told to recalibrate the salt level, but panel won't do it (salt level is 0 after 5th button press, no countdown). I also get 0 amps, which I read may mean a bad PCB. But if unit displays 2600 salt, all cell activity stops and amps = 0, right? Please help, new T-15 or PCB?
Hi, Ken. We've seen this issue caused by a bad cell and or Main PCB. The cell is 8 years old which they do not last that long. There is not much life left in the cell, I recommend replacing both components.

I would check to see if you have adequate flow, you need at least 11 GPM's of flow. If you seem to have good flow then you may need to replace your flow switch with this AquaRite Flow Switch.
Reply
How do you know if you have adequate flow? If the control unit doesn't flash the flow button, can I assume the flow is good enough?
Reply
11 GPM is very low flow, normally your pump should be pumping at 60 - 100 GPM, if you can feel water coming out of the return jets in the pool then you can assume you have more than 11 GPM of flow.

I've had a T-15 Hayward cell in operation for 6 years for a 15.5 k gallon pool. Never a sign of build up on the plates. Removed in winter for fear of freeze damage. Just wondering how much longer before it gives out?

This is a tough question to answer. I am on year 4 of mine, but here in Florida I run my pool year-round. Typically the cells here run 3-5 years. It also will depend how high you are running the cell. 6 years is a good amount of time though.

I have a mineral springs cell 15 I need to replace. My pool is about 10,000 gallons. Do I need the same cell and do I need to reconfigure it. What cell is best and why can"t I find a Mineral Springs cell? Thank you
Mark
Reply
Hello Mark. For Salt Water Systems sold under the Mineral Springs branding, Hayward Aqua Rite chlorine generating cells are the direct replacements. In general terms, the larger capacity chlorine generating cells have the advantage of running at lower output levels for the desired level of chlorine, increasing their operational life span. For example; the T Cell 15 can generate up to 1.47 pounds of chlorine per day at a salinity level of 2900ppm, the T Cell 9 can produce up to 0.98 pounds of chlorine. Replacing your current cell with a W3T-Cell-15 requires no reconfiguration. Some Mineral Springs models do not have the ability to be configured to cells that differ from the original size. Please check with the manufacturer (Hayward) for compatibility.

Is this the correct replacement and is there another way to definitively test the cell to make sure it needs replacement?

Hello Greg. A 400 PPM salt reading discrepancy between an independent test and the Hayward Control Box reading is not unusual. The Inspect Cell and Check Salt lights should both be flashing indicating the system is reading a salinity level below 2700 PPM. The target salinity level for the AquaRite SWG is 3200 PPM.
