Gerald, The replacement gasket for the SP0714T Top Mount valve is only available with the Key/seal Assembly (Diffuser w/ Gasket) (SPX0714CA).

Hi George, This spider gasket is not compatible with the Hayward Vari-Flo XL valve SP 714-A. The spider gasket on the Hayward SP714 valve is only available through this Hayward SP714 Diverter With Spider Gasket Glued In

when replacing this spider gasket what type of glue/sealant?? do you use to make it stay inside the grove.?

It is recommended to use clear RTV silicone for those gaskets. You would run a small bead of it in the grooves that the gasket will sit inside of.

12 volt drill with phillips head

shut off power to pump, let out air pressure, remove valve head, remove 5 spoke gasket, place non-hardening permatex at gasket corners, install 5 spoke gasket, place siclone on top of gasket ,reinstall valve head. Check operation.

Pros: Direct replacement
Cons: Old gasket is very difficult to remove.
Bought this gasket to replace worn one in multi port valve which proved impossible for me to remove. As a result, I chipped a piece of plastic off the valve seat and had to buy a new valve. Not as easy to replace as the instructions suggest. The glue used to adhere the gasket is tenacious in it's holding power. So I give it three stars and I'm stuck with a gasket I can't use. Good luck with your installation of this product.

Cons: Removing old gasket
Gasket fit as designed. The real problem is when you remove the old gasket - quite a mess, especially if it has been in for a long time. Make sure you remove all of the old gasket and you don't damage the edge of the gasket grooves.
