How many hours per day should I run my pump?

There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

Hello, I have an old Anthony pump and cannot really make out the nameplate. I can just make out AR, but that is it. It is a 2 hp motor and based on that, I believe it is an AR207-L. My question is if this variable speed pump would be a good replacement for the Anthony pump?

Hi Greg, Your Anthony Pump has a True HP of 2.6 HP so the PureLine Prime PL2606 Variable Speed Pump would be a closer match as on the high speed it runs a True HP of 2.7.

I currently have a single speed pump. I believe it needs to be replaced soon. The pool is about 36000 gallons. I did calculations and I thing I need about 5 GPM. It has a RPM of 3450/min. The question is, what is the difference between at 2 HP pump and and 2.75 HP pump? If I am getting the GPM's what is the HP giving me or not giving me?

Hi, Mike. The difference between a 2 hp and 2.75 hp is a difference of .75 hp which will also result in a higher flow rate (gpm) and power consumption. If the 2 hp pump is sufficient, no need to go with the 2.75 hp pump.

I currently bought a house with a pool that has the pumps not working. It has a Hayward sp3215x20 which is a 2 hp (2.20 THP) with a SF 1.10 . Which pureline pump would be a great replacement ?

I would recommend the Pureline Prime PL2606 which should be available in 7-10 business days. It has a total horsepower of 2.7 and uses an A.O. Smith motor that carries an 18-month warranty. It also comes with the unions for easier installation.

Hi Steven, Yes this pump would be quieter and also much more efficient than your current Pentair sf-n1- 2a. With your current pump, you can only run the pump at the high HP speed of 2 HP which costs quite a bit to operate. With this variable speed pump, you can run it at a full range of RPM's from 750 through 3450. Normally you will run the pump at a lower RPM setting which will save you on your operational cost, however, you still have the ability to ramp the pump all the way up to 2 HP if you need to. The plumbing ports on this pump are not in the exact same position as your Pentair pump so you will have some minor re-plumbing but it should not be too bad.

The ad said this is an EnergyStar pump but I do not see that listed in the manual or the webpage. I am looking for a pump that will qualify for the power company's rebate. Is this listed anywhere in the paper work as an EnergyStar pool pump?

i was running a super 2 pump 2 h.p. for years on a 1.5" piping, & was quite happy with it. I switched to 1.5 h.p hayward sp2300vsp with the recommendation of a pool pro & disappointed to say the least. I would like to go back to the same performance as my old super 2 pump 2 h.p. variable speed. im considering this particular pump due to its affordability. i would like to know if this pump is a drop in replacement for the hayward max-flo, piping wise. also need power consumption.

Hi Victor, this pump will be a more powerful pump then your Hayward sp2300vsp pump as this pump will output roughly 95 Gallons Per Minute (GPM) at 40' of head where the SP2300VSP outputs 63 GPM at 40' of head. Your old 2 HP Super 2 Pump would output 112 GPM at 40' of head so this pump would still output a little less than that pump. This pump is not a drop-in replacement for a Hayward Max Flo II so you will have a little re-plumbing to do.

i am wanting to replace my old centurion single speed pump with a variable speed. it's 2 HP with 2 inch connections. it looks like the Titan would be my best route. my pool is salt water and about 40,000 gallons with the hot tub spilling into the pool. are there any complications i should be aware of? i'm hoping this will reduce my ridiculous summer electric bills.

Hi I have a Hayward Ecostar Variable SP3400VSP 2.0 HP 1.35 SF 2.17 THP where I woke up this morning and there is a drive error and the pump has stalled and cannot be restarted. Hi, I also have the Hayward SP3400VSP. 230V. Pool has DE filter and attached SPA, old Pentair Mini MAX 400 heater. Would this unit be adequate, or should I go with the 2.7 HP? I have a pentair challenger 1 HP single speed pump. It works well, but want to replace it with a variable speed. Not sure which way I want to go.
Hi James, the PureLine PureLine Titan 2 H.P Variable Speed Pool Pump would be a great replacement for the Pentair Challenger 1 HP single speed pump. The plumbing ports on the PureLine are not in the exact same spot as your current pump so you will have a little re-plumbing if you go that route, but nothing major. By upgrading to variable speed you will save a ton on your operational costs.

We have a Sta-Rite Model PHK2RA6E. It's a 1HP, single speed. Our utility bills are high and we just bought a new AC and had all new duct work installed so we know it's not that. Our pool pump is rusted and loud. I want to replace it with a variable speed because I have read that they are more energy efficient that what we have. Could the rust indicate that it's bad? Do you think this system will be more energy efficient than my current system?
Hi Kim, The rust does not indicate the motor is bad but the loud operation is a sign that the bearings are beginning to fail. You will see a huge operational cost savings by upgrading to a Variable Speed Pump as much as 80% operational cost savings. I am looking to replace a Jandy HHP single speed 2.0HP with a SF1.2 with a variable speed pump to lessen my electric bill. I would also like it to intergrade with the Jandy Aqualink RS automation system. It is not a salt system. Would this be a good replacement? If not can you recommend other options.
This pump, unfortunately, would not communicate with your system however you can replace the motor with an ECM27CU then add the automation adapter part number 2517501-001 so it can communicate with your system.
