How many hours per day should I run my pump?
Reply
There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

Can I use this pump to pump water up to my solar panels? Can I retrofit this pump to plumb to 2"pvc?
Reply
Hi JD, For pumping water up to solar panels I would suggest our High Head Hayward Super II 1 HP Pump. The high head pumps to a better job pumping water up the roof. And you could put reducer bushings to reduce from 2" to 1-1/2" plumbing.

I've an in ground concrete swimming pool about 15,000 gal size. How many HP pump do I need? Thanks

Good morning Alejandro Cebedo, MD, I would recommend a 1hp to a 1.5hp based on the flow rating of your pump and filter. You would have to make sure your impeller corresponds with this. What size motor do you currently have?

Hi is the Hayward 3/4 Superpump compatible with salt systems or is there another hayward that's designed for salt? I currently use chlorine but may switch to salt so I'd like to get a pump that will handle either, thanks

Hi, Mick. The Hayward Super Pump is compatible with salt water pools.

Hello,
I just paced an order for the Hayward SP2605X7W 3/4 pump and was wondering whether I should cancel the order and get the 1HP model instead? My in ground pool is 10500 gallons 12x24, total head is ~60ft and the pump is located on a hill 9ft above the pool. The sand filter has a maximum capacity of 75GPM. Currently I have a 1/2HP Pentair WhisperFlo, which started to fail last summer and it worked fine for 3 years since I bought the house.
will this replace my old pump (pic attached)? specs seem similar...the sf is different...not sure if that matters...?? same size as my old pump? thanks.
Hello, The Hayward pump will have a little bit of a smaller basket but the same motor. You will also have to replumb.

I currently have this 3/4 super pump. It is about 6 yrs old. I have a vinyl kidney 23,000 approx pool. Every since installed we run the pump 24/7 during the season (May-Sept). StaRite cartridge system. Over last 2 wks pump has been shutting down, then mysteriously starting back up. I thought that maybe when my electrician was working on the dock lift wiring he crossed something, but I think the pool equip is on a separate circuit. Is this a sign that the pump is going out?

Hi, Sandra. That is correct, the motor is overheating engaging the thermal overload protection. A bad impeller can also cause this issue. The pump and or motor will have to be inspected. Check out the Hayward Super Pump SP1600 & SP2600 Series Parts Diagram.

Thanks! I'm debating whether or not to just replace with NEW super pump, or deal with swapping out parts, etc. By the time I pay labor and buy parts, I could almost have paid for a new one.

Hi Brian, Based on the information from the label it looks like you do indeed need the W3SP2605X7 Hayward 3/4 HP Super Pump which is listed on this page.

Hey Pat, are you sure it is a 3/4 HP pump? I just want to be sure. How come you think it is 3/4? I see it can't be a 1/2 HP because it has a 230 volt option. Thanks.
Reply
Hi Brian, There are two reasons I believe this is a 3/4 HP first is I believe that is actually a 605Z1M as there is a part # of SPX1605Z1M which refers to the 3/4 HP Model. Also the Hayward owners manual states that the .55 kw which is shown on your label is the kw for the 3/4 HP model. See attached image.
All I have to go by is the picture I you are looking at. Is it stamped somewhere else i can look? The tag as you can see has fallen off.

Our Hayward Super pump has rusted out after 12 yrs. Super pump .75 HP. I paid around 250 back then. Is there another model to replace this one? I see you have model around 250 but they do not ship to CA. Or is this model W3SP2605X7, suggested by online chat, still the best option? Pool size is around 15,000 gallons. Thanks

Hi Keith, could you send us a few photos of the motor label and pump? The W3SP2605X7 is California Title Compliant. To supply photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get those photos we can make the proper recommendation.
