What does an air relief tube do? What is the purpose of having this tube in the cartridge filter?

Hi Katy, The purpose of an Air Relief Tube is to channel any air that is in the line out through the filter allowing water to fill the space instead of the air trapped in the line or filter.

I am looking for an air tube screen,

Your site shows the air relief tube only.
Is there a replacement screen that can be used?

Hello - the screen is no longer available, but it is not necessary for the filter to operate correctly. If your tube is still in working order, then you should be fine.
