I was having issues with not being able to prime my pool pump after cleaning the pool pump leaf basket. After some internet research, I determined the problem could be the seal on the leaf basket lid before the pump motor.
My unit is an older AquaFlow brass model with a brass lid and a 5 inch rubber O-ring. The o-ring appeared to be brittle and I'm sure was the original. I located a new, replacement, cleaned the top of the the pump brass leaf basket with a scraper and sandpaper to remove rust, lubed the gasket with a generous amount of gasket lube, and put it all back together.
I turned it on and the unit primed and started working! Easy fix if you're having the same problem!
