Model # W3AQ-TROL-RJ
Dimensions 14" x 3-5/8"
The Aqua Trol Electronic Chlorine Generator (also known as a salt chlorinator) is designed specifically for above ground pools up to 18,000 gallons. The Aqua Trol has all the same functions and features of the Aqua Rite but with a lower chlorine output.
The Aqua Trol also has an integral time clock for control of the pool filtration pump. Since many above ground pools already have a single electrical outlet for the filter pump, the Aqua Trol is designed with an outlet (timer controlled) for the filter pump to plug into, the Aqua Trol then plugs into the original outlet the filter pump was using. The savings on chlorine and electrical power alone (if the pump was previously running 24 hours), will have the Aqua Trol paying for itself in just a few short years. The Aqua Trol system typically installs in less than 30 minutes and is very easy to operate.

What is the difference between the Aqua Trol HP and RJ?
Reply
The HP (Hose Pipe) version is installed in the hoses/pipes next to your pool filter, where the RJ (Return Jet) version the cell is mounted directly to the return jet on the side of your pool. Both units work exactly the same but you would need to determine which one would be easier to install from a plumbing stand point. I see you have a couple salt chlorine generators for above ground pools. Can you tell me what you would recommend and why?
Reply
I would suggest the AquaTrol Salt Chlorine Generator as it is much higher quality product than the ChlorEase. The AquaTrol has much more titanium coating on the blades of the salt cell which makes the salt cell last much longer, so you should get about 4-6 years out of the salt cell on the AquaTrol. The AquaTrol comes in several models first you can get in an HP model which would be installed in the plumbing next to your pool pump or you can get it in an RJ model which would hook up directly to the return jet on your pool (Both models perform identically, you would just need to choose the one that would work best for your application - the RJ is quite a bit less and operates the same) Lastly the AquaTrol is available with a standard 3 prong plug or a Twist Lock depending on the electrical receptacle you have available to you. You may view or purchase any of the AquaTrols here http://www.inyopools.com/sanitizers_aquatrol.aspx

I am confused. The photos all show the generator and the turbo cell as a package. Does the turbo cell come WITH the generator or is this the price of JUST the generator and then you purchase the turbo cell separately? Thanks

This price is for the complete AquaTrol with Power Supply and Turbo Cell.

I received the AquaTrol RJ Chlorine Generator but there is no flow switch. Is there supposed to be one?
Reply
According to the AQTROLRJ AquaTrol RJ Chlorine Generator owner's manual, return jet units (-RJ option) will NOT have a flow switch. The manual further states that the RJ installation "does NOT require a flow switch--however it is very important that the cell be mounted vertically directly below the return jet in order to allow the gases produced in the cell to naturally dissipate in the pool."

Pros: Lower cost, pump outlet with timer built in, everything you need except the salt incuded (ours even came with some test strips)
Cons: None that we have found.
After tiring of the expense and hassle of a biquanide pool we decided to make the conversion to chlorine via the Aqua Trol RJ salt water generator. The usual super quality of Hayward products coupled with a great price and fast shipping combined for an excellent purchase. Installation was a breeze and we had it up and running in a matter of minutes. I have been checking the chemistry with our test kit and it is working great.

(4 out of 5 stars) Chlorine Generator

Pros: Easy set up. Once it is up and running it is very low maintenance. The digital readout makes it easy to check the level of salt in the pool.
Cons: Once it is set up it has been difficult stopping it from leaking. There has been a constant drip since day one that tends to get worse when you take it apart.

(5 out of 5 stars) Awesome Addition to my pool system
Reviewed By: TXMom from Rowlett, TX ()
Pros: Easy start up. Economical. Quick working. NO CHLORINE CHEMICALS
Cons: Initial cost of unit
I bought the Return Jet Salt Chlorinator. I love it. I was getting a new liner and sand filter changed so I decided to convert. It is awesome. My husband and I added salt to the pool once it was full and we were able to run the pump. After 24 hours we brushed small amounts of salt (and I mean small amount) off the pool floor and had sparkling beautiful water that already had that "pool" smell. I took my sample of water to my favorite pool supply store, Leslie's, and they told me how much conditioner and dry acid to add to bring up my chlorine level and balance the water. I can't tell you how nice it is after a few short steps to have my pool water balanced and ready for swimming even though it is a little cold still. I would definitely recommend this type of system to an above ground pool owner. Good Luck!

(5 out of 5 stars) chlorine generator it actualy works
Reviewed By: dutchman from Newnan , GA ()
Pros: automatic, pump timer built in, works well
Cons: display codes not explained in manual
the kit arrived sooner than expected, relatively simple to install, If you can place generator close to the jet it turns out you don't need the flow switch, but I installed it anyway. The unit will not generate if the water is too cold, it was also too cold to swim. I think this thing saved me about $200 in chlorine tabs and shock last season alone. No more red eye
