Hi, The Algaecide Prevent 60 Low Foam 1 Qt is not compatible with Baquacil. Baquacil has their own Alaecide that will work with their line of products.

My pool is equipped with an ionizer system which runs with a weekly shock treatment of 2lbs., no other chlorination. Will this algaecide be effective in this environment through the mid- Atlantic winter?

You will want to use some form of chlorine with an algaecide. For most algaecides, chlorine is what helps it works. If you are worried about chlorine being in your water next summer, don't worry, it will be gone by the time you open your pool next summer.

How does this product compare to: Didecyt dimethyl ammonium chloride

Hi Daniel, this produce (Polixetonium Chloride) is going to be very comparable to Didecyldimethylammonium Chloride. The Polixetonium Chloride is slightly more soluble in water and has a slightly more basic pH (6.9-7.3). In terms of toxicity, these will both be effective to eliminate Freshwater Green Algae, with slightly different EC50 water concentrations when it comes down to various species. The Didecyldimethylammonium Chloride will be slightly better for the environment, as it fully degrades in water. In the end, both are readily suitable compounds to eliminate your pool algae blooms.

Hi, Donald. You will have to treat the pool for algae. This product can be used along with chlorine shock.

I added 1/2 a bottle of the Algaecide Prevent 60 to my pool 4 days ago. Before adding this product I use the wash on my filter to eliminate the algaecide from the bottom of my pool. I let the pump running for 24 hrs. Two days later I still have a good amount of algaecide back at the bottom. Wash and vacuum again. Runs for 24 and I still have algaecide in my pool. What should I do?

Hello Orlando. Add Pool Shock Power Blast at the dosage rate of 3 -1lb bags per 10,000 gallons of pool water. Add 1 - 2lb Yellow Out and the dosage rate of 2 pounds per 15,000 gallons of water. Brush the sides and bottom of the pool after adding the chemistry to remove all the algae from the surface of the pool. After 12 consecutive hours of pump run time add Pool Shock Power Blast at the dosage rate of 3 - 1lb bags per 10,000 gallons of water. Continue to run the pump until the water is clear, cleaning the filter daily. Make certain to maintain chlorine levels in the pool to prevent a further reoccurrence of algae.
