Can this be used to replace a 120V 500W bulb if a 12V transformer is added to the other side of the existing wiring?

Hi Kevin, unfortunately, this bulb will need to be installed in a fixture designed for 12 volts. Please see the bulb product details to also confirm the few compatible light series it is compatible with.

how does this light compare to the PENTAIR® AMERLITE® 16 COLOR LED UPGRADE

Hi Charley, these J & J Colorsplash LED bulbs have become quite known and widely used in the swimming pool industry in comparison to the Pentair LED lights and bulbs. They also carry a fair warranty as well.

So I bought LED Pool Bulb Color Changing 12V 35W PL5808 2 years ago. It is now flaking out. Looking to next poll season and a replacement. The Chat rep said this J&J bulb is the replacement. I am wondering is the more reliable? I'm not spending $300 to have this thing die after 2 or three swim seasons.

Hi James, I would say that it is fair to say that the J & J Colorsplash light bulb could potentially last longer as this manufacturer has been in the industry for quite a number of years fabricating pool light products.

Hello Gerald. The ColorSplash LXG LED Pool Lamp 12V - LPL-P2-RGB-12 will replace an R40 type bulb. Attached please find the ColorSplash Product Brochure which identifies the Compatible Fixtures for the LPL-P2-RGB-12 bulb. Please note; this is a 12V bulb and must match the fixture's voltage rating.
