Are there specs on how many microns this filter is rated at? Is there available another filter that won't allow finer particles to pass through?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/1/2014 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

As a rule, sand filters sift particles ranging from 20 to 40 microns in size.  Cartridge filters can sift particles as small as 10 to 20 microns in size.  DE filters can sift contaminants as small as 1 to 3 microns in size. This makes DE filtration at least five to six times more efficient than sand filtration systems.

How do i size a filter? My pool and spa are small. I'm thinking no more than about 9k gallons

Hi Ed, When sizing a filter you want to make sure that the filter can handle the output of water from the pump. This is measured in Gallons Per Minute (GPM), normally a pool pump is sized to turn your pool over in 8 Hrs. and if your pump was sized properly then this 75 Sq. Ft. (75 GPM) filter should be fine for your pool. With a pool filter, it is always better to go bigger so if you wanted to go up to a 100 Sq. Ft. Filter then you would have a longer time between cleaning your cartridge and you put less stress on your pump.

Would this filter be a good replacement for a hayward DE filter model ec65? My pool is inground and 18k gallons with a hayward super pump 3/4hp. What's the approximate cleaning interval for a filter of this size with my pool?

Hi, Chris. I would recommend a larger capacity cartridge filter like the Clean and Clear Cartridge Filter 150 Sq. Ft. - 160317.

I have a small unground pool. Somewhere around 18000-20000 gallons. Would this filter be to big. Also I have 1 1/2” plumbing. Would it be ok to reduce down from 2 “? I have a Hayward super pump.

On a filter, bigger is better so you would have no problem on this filter. Also, it is not an issue going from 1.5" plumbing up to 2" ports, this issue is vice versa, going from 2" plumbing down to 1.5" ports, so you should be good with this filter.

I have an American Products Preditor 75sf filter system installed in 1996. Time for a new one. I hope to get an exact relacement(interchangeable parts and same plumbing). This seems to be it. Do you know if this is the same except for color? i.e. interchangeable lid, filter element, etc.?

Hi Terry, Yes this is what you would be looking for the parts are interchangeable.

Dear Sir, I have had this same unit CC75 Product # 160315 at my home since 2011 and it is working fine, but I'm considering buying another one if I could get one on sale. Please let me know if this ever goes on sale or you have some kind of a special promotion. Thanks, Ed 561-252-5263

I bought a Clean and Clear 75sf filter from you in May 2020 to replace my 25 year-old same filter. When I clean the filter I cannot remove the core assembly to clean housing completely. My old one came out easily. Is the new one different and do I need to remove the core assembly and clean when I clean the filter?

Hi Terrance, the core is pretty much the same between models of that square footage, and to really clean the cartridge at best you will want to remove it from the core. Using a bit of pool o ring lubricant on the core so it easily slides out of the cartridge filter element may help in the future.

I have STA-RITE pool filter model number 70TX (15x15x47 1/2) with replacement cart #WC108-51sIX I need a new system, can you advise which is the new model can be used

Hi Tony, This would be a great replacement filter for your Sta-Rite. The plumbing ports are not in the exact same location as your current filter so you will have a little re-plumbing.
