This is the one algaecide that does it all. Algimycin® 2000 algaecide kills, prevents and controls all algae types. A special wetting agent penetrates and kills even deeply-rooted algae cells. Initial Dosage to Prevent Algae :
Add 8-12 oz. per 10,000 gallons.

It is easier to prevent algae growth than to destroy established algae. To be most effective against existing algae, add on a warm, sunny day in the morning. Remove dead settled algae by vacuuming.

We just filled our pool, and it sat for a week and grew green algae because we took our sweet time buying this years chemicals. We purchased this product and added the amount needed to treat our visible algae. When are we able to shock our pool? The store we purchased from wasn't very informative and the product label says it is compatible with other chemicals but not sure if that means when doing maintenance or an actual treatment of existing algae?

Jen, You can shock treat the pool 6-8 hours after applying the product. You will want to shock the pool late in the afternoon or early evening.

The last 2 years my pool has opened very green [in ground, vinyl liner 15K gal haywood 1.5 pump and 1200 cartridge system] this takes a number of days running to clear up, prior to opening a ck under the cover reveals clean water but heavy algae on bottom, once running vacuming the bottom tends to cloud the water to green. Should I be adding a much larger dose of algeside prior to closing in the fall, my pool guy adds some chemical at closing but it is apparently not enough, mesh safety cover.

Walter, If you have a mesh cover, it will be difficult to open without algae. I would recommend speaking with your pool guy to see where he keeps the chemistry levels when he closes the pool and see if he can raise them higher.

I put Algimycin® 2000in one quart for 11000 gallons 24hrs I also put in 5 lbs of oxybrite 12 hours ago. I have 600lb sand filter with glass beads. water is now and aways is clear after pool brushing six hours and 18 hours later. I have some questions: 1. how long after using Algimycin® should I see less algae? How long after this treatment (assuming no changes) should I re-aply Algimycin®? Is a standard big pool brush capable of removing yellow algae or do I need to use a wire brush?

Hi, Mitch. Adding one quart for an 11,000 gallon pool is excessive. Also, oxybrite is a non-chlorine shock, you were to add a chlorine shock like the Super Charge Shock Oxidizer or Super Charge II. You should have seen progress within 12-24 hours. You will have to wait at least 3 days before adding another dose. A standard brush is capable of removing yellow algae from your pool's surface.

The best remover of stains in the world, I would recommend this product to ANYONE for pool staining problems. I was told to drain my pool and replace the liner until I found this a wonder product.

We had one year where we really struggled with algae in our above ground pool because I decided to try chemicals from a well known department store. Now we use Algimycin 2000 regularly and we no longer have a problem.

I bought some of this last year at a local store. I put in the initial dosage but did not do the weekly maintenance doses as directed. I probably put about 4 oz. in every 3 weeks or so on a 24 ft. round pool. This stuff is amazing, never had algae problems the whole summer. I paid 35.00 for 1 bottle so I got a great deal from this company! Definitley worth every penny. Works perfect with Baquacil!
