This made it incredibly easy to remove the return eyeball on my above ground pool. It fits right into grooves inside the eyeball and provides the leverage needed to turn it.

Pros: light-weight, inexpensive

Cons: plastic, deforms, won't remove well-stuck seat

I had a pool company open my above ground pool, and found that I could not remove the eyeball inlet seat during closing. I initially tried using this plastic Hayward removal tool, but the seat would not budge. I also tried using this tool with a pair of 8" vice grips clamped to it for leverage. After multiple tries, the plastic corners deformed and the tool became useless - it would just slip out of the seat when trying to twist it. I ended up purchasing the metallic removal tool (Eyeball Seat Removal Tool, eb1803), which, in conjunction with a 12" pipe wrench, was able to remove the eyeball seat. If you installed the inlet seat using teflon tape around the threads, perhaps this tool would work; however, if your inlet seat is stuck, I highly recommend spending a little more and using the metal removal tool.

Cons: Plastic

This is a nice tool to have. It was not strong enough to remove my eyeball inlets without some strong arming them first.(someone had painted them in) But once broken free this tool worked like a champ.
