Hi Ric, this is the direct replacement for the older style FNS plus lids, we would just need to know if you have the 48 Sq. Ft model or 60 Sq. Ft. if you have the 48 Sq. Ft. then this lid would be the direct replacement and if you have the 60 sq. ft. then you would require the 60 Sq. Ft. FNS Plus Lid You should be able to find this information on the label on the side of your filter.

Will this replacement lid fit my Purex Triton Nautilus FNS 48 filter purchased in 1997?

Hi Kevin, No this lid does not work on the Purex Triton Nautilus FNS 48 and unfortunately, that lid has been discontinued without a replacement. If your lid needs to be replaced then it may be time for a new filter like one of these DE Filters
