Do you still have to circulate the water in the pool once it has been winterized?

Hi Jeanette, Once the pool is winterized you would not be able to circulate the pool water.

Does the shock in this kit contain chlorine?? Is it safe for vinyl lined pools?
 Reply

A  Answered on 11/3/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Brian M.

Good day. Yes, this shock is safe for vinyl pools. The active ingredient in the shock is  sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione , or just simply Dichlor. It is a sodium based shock that is quick to dissolve and will not hurt the liner.

Is this safe for salt water pools? Do salt water pools require different winterizing steps?
 Reply

A  Answered on 9/29/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Scott W.

Yes, you would use the same kit to winterize your pool whether it is chlorine or saltwater pools.

I received my winterizing kit for 30K gal pool. The directions say to follow the bottle instructions on the Algecide (Halt 50?), and there are no clear instructions for winterizing application on the bottle. Which application would I use: Initial, Visible (no I have none), maintenance or booster? Thank you

Good morning Kimberley, The maintenance dosage: 1-1/3 oz. per 10,000 gallons. This is used to kill and prevent algae from forming.

Closing the pool properly without it turning green in the summer

Written on 4/1/2024 by Guest

Stabilized the pool water first and foremost. I even made sure the pool had enough salt to the max normal level. Then i followed the instructions that came on the box. I kept the water circulating for over 24 hours to ensure the chemicals properly got through all the water.

Closing up for the Winter.

Written on 12/12/2019 by Guest

Getting to know my pool is the first step and these guys make it easier for me. New to the pool scene and learning everyday. I made sure my system was balanced first. Cleaned any dirt, leaves, debris from the water and surrounding, followed the step by step on the box, blew out my lines, heater and salt cell(clean), plugged up returns and skimmer, organized all the parts in my pump basket so I don't miss-place them, covered the pool and we are ready for next season. Do not skip the steps on the box!!

winter pool closing

Written on 12/14/2017 by Guest

I went to my semi-local pool store to get a closing kit. I asked the young man on duty about the instructions for it. He said "just lower the water level and dump in all the chemicals at the same time and cover the pool". I asked if it was not necessary to make sure the chemicals circulate. He said "no" and that when they are hired to close a pool, they just dump them in. I did not think that was wise so I contacted Inyopools and ordered the closing kit. It arrived in a few days. I followed the instructions included in the kit. This procedure takes a day because you need to add and then let circulate and then drain some water (if you live where I live and it is going to freeze). This is my second year using this product and last spring when we took off the cover, the water was practically clear! I am very satisfied with this product and the correct instructions I get from Inyopools.
