What is Service Factor?
Reply
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

Why do I need to purchase a new shaft seal?
Reply
We strongly recommend replacing the shaft seal. The purpose of a shaft seal is to prevent water from running down the shaft of the motor and into the motor housing. Water will damage the bearings and cause the motor to fail. A new shaft seal should be installed whenever a motor is replaced. The motor manufacturer can deny the warranty if the motor fails to due to water damage from a faulty shaft seal. To find your shaft seal you will need to visit our Pool Pump Parts Page or the Spa Pump Parts Page and select your make and model.

Why should I purchase a Tune Up Kit?
Reply
A Tune Up Kit includes all of the essential replacement seals and gaskets for the pump. The seals and gaskets should be replaced when installing a new motor on your pump. New seals will prevent the pump from leaking water or losing the prime. A Tune Up Kit will protect your motor and ensure that the pump is working efficiently.

Hi, I have a 15 yr old Sta Rite Dura Glass II 1.5 hp motor & pump, the motor is shot, bearing making noise. Pump is P4RA6F - 187L. Motor model from nameplate is AO Smith C48L2PA105 Frame 48Y. Manual says the motor for this pump is A100FLL When searching internet it says motor is USQ1152. Is this EE model ??
Reply
Hi Bill, The direct replacement for the C48L2PA105 Duraglas P4RA6F - 187L would be the Standard Efficiency USQ1152 Pool Motor The motor on this page UQC1152, would most definitely work as a replacement for your Duraglas P4RA6F - 187L and it would be the energy-efficient model. So the USQ1152 is the standard efficiency model and the UQC1152 is the energy-efficient model.

Wish I would have paid for faster shipping, so I could install it sooner. This motor is so quiet that I don't know its on half the time. Install was easy, three wires, only minor leaks, but that was my fault.

Replaced a bad motor (USQ 1152) on a Dura Glas pump. Runs quiet and does the job. Need a couple of months of run time to verify the energy savings...looking forward to that.

Pros: Quiet running motor
Cons: More details on locking shaft
This motor replaces an 8 year old motor that had been on its last leg for awhile. The install took about an hour ( I had previously removed the old one) and I had no problems getting the new one in (my 4 year old grandson helped or I may have been done in half the time :) ). I will say there were no instructions in the box for locking the shaft, I had already researched this before it arrived so I had no problem, but it would be good to send this documentation with the motor

Pros: efficient, quiet, documentation available
I bought this pump since it matched the old pump, but had the Energe Effienct rating. I am so happy now, my wife and I can sleep at night. Our old pump was so loud, the entire neighborhood could hear it running. We are already saving on our energy costs, our next bill is estimated 25 percent less than usual. I recommended this pump to my coworker

Replaced a 10 year old A.O.Smith Motor with an Energy Efficient model, last one died. The conversion was simple and everything matched up. The only difference was the L1 & L2 Terminals were in an opposite position, not a problem wiring. Your online install sheets were a great help, particulary learning how to remove the Impeller. Shipment was great, received as scheduled, installed that day. Pool is Blue again.

(5 out of 5 stars) Perfect Replacement
Reviewed By: George C. from Homosassa, FL ()
Pros: Perfect fit for old motor
Cons: Removing old impeller - no way to grasp motor shaft
I paid a little more to get a more efficient motor. Ordered on a Saturday & delivered Tues. After some difficulty in removing the impeller from the shaft of the old motor (there is no good way to grasp the motor shaft and I gingerly used a pipe wrench to dislodge the impeller), installation was a snap following the instructions available on INYO's web site. I recommend purchasing the GO-KIT tune up package as the shaft seal showed wear after 8 years & the gaskets tend to dry out and stretch. The new motor was up and running quietly in about 2 hours start to finish.
