At first glance a Hayward DE Multiport Valve (MPV) looks the same as a Hayward Sand MPV and the user might assume they are interchangeable. In general , that is not true. A Hayward DE MPV functions differently from a Hayward Sand MPV. This guide shows you have these valve differ in operation. Note: Valve operations differ by manufacturer. Pentair MPVs, for example, are interchangeable between DE and Sand Filters

I purchased a replacement DE Side Mount and the one I received has larger ports than the one i'm replacing. My old unit had 1.5" PVC and connectors, and this one appears to be 2". I've had a hard time finding the exact model I had (I believe p2610x15). Is it ok for me to adapt my plumbing to fit this new unit, or will that create an issue somewhere else. Thank you, MattReply

The partial model number provided (S)P2610X15 is the Hayward Super Pump 1.5 HP model number, not a valve. if you are looking for the number for a Hayward valve, it would be found on the main valve sticker and usually begins with an SP7. But it should be fine to fit the larger 2" valve to your 1.5" system. There would be an issue if you were putting a 1.5" valve on a 2" system because it would create a bottleneck.Reply
